Back Porch Bistro: Reviews & Ratings
The best sandwich shop in downtown Ellijay. My husband and I have coming here for years and have never had anything that we didn't like. Pete and Tami are wonderful and remember us every time even if it has been a while. We love the atmosphere and "layered tea". Great folks, food and atmosphere. What more could you want. Give them a try. You won't regret it.
Cute lunch time bistro! Varied menu, AND they have Gluten Free Bread!! Shared the Reuben with a side of delicious Potato Salad (so we could have coffee and dessert down the street!) Corned Beef was the leanest I've ever had! Service was fast and friendly. Discount for paying cash. Highly recommend this place!
Food was amazing. Service was excellent. John thank you for your recommendation. I had the Italian, which was awesome! I also had their ham and corn chowder and it was some of the best I’ve ever had. I tried their apple coleslaw and was pleasantly surprised. Would recommend to anyone.
We loved our sandwiches and sides: a Reuben with Macaroni Salad and a Cuban with Potato Salad. The owner greeted us and was friendly throughout our visit. Highly recommend!
Cute little restaurant with the friendliest staff. We stopped in after zip lining in Dawsonville. The food was inexpensive and a nice, quick bite to eat for lunch. This is a great stop if you don’t want fast food but want something simple and filling.
Literally the back porch of an antique store. I give this spot an extra star for their vegan options. Vegan wraps Vegan sandwiches Vegan Soups But they have more than just vegan food, there is there are salads, sandwiches, wraps and even some dessert options. This spot gets busy at lunch and there are not enough tables to fit everyone, but give it time and you will find a spot either inside or on the outside (back porch) area. It is a dog friendly foot, so bring your pet with you, everyone else seems to have taken them up on it. Service was so friendly, it was like a family gathering. But you want to know about the food: Potato salad - as good or better than my mother’s version and i loved hers. Vegan Chili - full of potatoes, corn, tomatoes and black beans, this was my FAVORITE dish. Mozzarella Wrap - it sounded good, but was just so-so and was horribly messy. Side salad - fresh, good and the dressing was amazing. Cuban Sandwich - another solid choice that was tasty and filling. Reuben - ooh, surprisingly good. Gyro - another really great dish, my son devoured this one. Really good lunch spot, but it did take some time, both waiting in line and to get our food.
My daughter and I stopped for lunch today after going to the apple houses. There was a man and woman working. They were so friendly. We bith got the Grinder pannini. It was so fresh and delicious. The service was quick and friendly. If you want to stop at a mom and pop restaurant I highly recommend this restaurant. We'll come back
A cozy place in town with outdoor seating available. Dog friendly. Soups are amazing as well as the chicken sandwiches ! Fresh and homemade sides. Definitely a great stop over for lunch when nearby. Also has some owner hand made jewelry and artwork for sale, all very reasonably priced. Parking available in street.

With limited hours—the bistro is open just over 21 hours a week—it's crucial to plan your visit. Regular customers often express their disappointment over the short operating hours, but this exclusivity only adds to its charm and allure.
In my visits, I found the cran-turkey and Italian grinder to be particularly noteworthy; both are packed with flavor and make for a perfect light lunch. However, the gyro meat, while tasty, did come across as somewhat processed compared to more traditional offerings—just a minor note in an otherwise enjoyable experience.
Overall, Back Porch Bistro captures the essence of a cozy, community-focused eatery where delicious food and kind service meet. With live music adding to the ambiance and the option for free Wi-Fi, it’s a lovely spot for a quick lunch or a lazy weekend brunch. I wholeheartedly recommend making this spot a regular addition to your dining experiences. You won’t be disappointed!
